Light-Emitting Terrazzo Fireplace Surround
In a Hartman Design Group specification, Sensitile Terrazzo Lumina was used for a fireplace surround in a public living space. Detailed with precise miter corners to form a box-like enclosure, color-changing LED lights were integrated in the top and bottom edges for color play.
Statement Receptions
Greeting visitors in styleCrystal like aesthetic adds to the cool colors of the space.
Designed by Focus Architects, this stunningly crystalline reception desk features clear Scintilla panels with edge-illumination. While flat panels form the face of the desk, a folded, U-shaped piece was created for the transaction top and return. The entire assembly was pre-fabricated along with the lighting and shipped to site for easy installation.
Interactive Terrazzo makes an impression.
In a Hugh Broughton Architects design, a Sensitile Terrazzo™ slab clads the face of the reception desk while matching tiles create an interactive floor that flows into the elevators, creating a simply sophisticated interior. The ability of Terrazzo to be cast into complex shapes and its availability in modular tiles and custom shapes makes it possible to achieve continuity and fluidity in a space.
Shelves & wall bay units

Shelves Integrated in a Sensory Wall

Illuminated Floating Shelves
FIN fixtures in a horizontal cluster extend the perception of space in this elegant and functional shelving display. The clear mirror backing through which they are mounted helps creates echoes of colors and forms which can be effortlessly modulated to control the ambiance of the space.

In the bold and colorful design of the cafe in the Massachusetts College of Art and Design, ADD Inc. used JaliⓇ Cascata panels fabricated into a central community table with waterfall legs. The same material, on the face of the refreshments stand creates a cohesive aesthetic.

Custom cast furniture and floors are a perfect match
In this Remedios Studio design, custom-formed Sensitile Terrazzo™ slabs bolster the registration desks at the Aria Convention Center in Las Vegas. The tops have integral, semi-circular indents at the chair locations and they have a 3″ drop-down edge. The material continues from the desk to the floor via a return leg.

Designed by Stantec Boston, SLANTⓇ Turbulence panels form the face of the reception desk at the Abiomed Headquarters in Boston. The light filtering quality of the material combined with softening effect of the frosted surface finish gives it a warm, elegant and welcoming appeal.
2-D shape accentuates the riveting design
In a Stunning design by Bennett Design Group, Jali Origami was specified for a reception desk counter face for Jacob White Construction in Texas. The panel was provided to finish Trapezoid shape. And the organic Jali pattern manipulates ambient light to create depth and beauty that extends into the space. The mirror back is a clever material configuration for a sophisticated metal like, reflective aesthetic and also to conceal the millwork underneath.

Back-lit counter
Sensitile’s interactive resin material, Scintilla, has been used in various Aloft locations for the bar top in their w xyz bars. This variation however exhibits a unique backlit feature which illuminates the resin panels and offers a soft glow due to the matte finish. Resin panels with a matte finish are easily serviceable when cleaning and removing scratches and imperfections.
Seats, Occasional tables and Stools
Fabrication or casting into shapes opens up unique design possibilities.Stanley Beaman & Sears used Interactive ScintillaⓇ panels to add fun and interest to tables in the examination rooms. These were produced to finish size and oval shape to fit as an inset into a solid surface.
Children and their families engage with the material as it creates a play of light and shadow, positively distracting them from the context of their visit.
Bar stool seats using mirror backed Jali Cascata adds interest. The exposed edges were polished and comfort eased.

Using Light to create Privacy
This forward-thinking Level 5 design group design of the bank interior delivers a contemporary aesthetic with an open floor plan. The centerpiece of this design uses kiosks that feature Lumina™ panels as privacy screens. After all, what better way to create privacy than with light itself? We supplied the prefabricated panels in a triangular shape along with the warm white LED edge lighting.
